SEO, Search Engine Optimization (or in layman's terms, the wizardry that makes websites appear at the top of Google) is a vast and complex topic.
We understand that Page Links, HTML Validation and META tags aren't what most business owners spend their nights worrying about. All well and said, tools can only get us so far. SEO isn't about SEO anymore, instead its about the user. Google (and others) are using techniques which are now so advanced it's not as simple as it used to be (oh the good bad old days), now the best advice anyone can give you is to make the website the most efficient and user friendly as possible, and in return Google will recognize this.
It's important to remember that Google's main goal is to offer their users the best experience (no users means no advertising revenue), so that is what they are looking for from you.
Sure, you could try and optimize for SEO, and there are some things you should check (see Google Webmaster Checklist), but don't over do it, you'll just make the website bad for real end users.
So what do we do? We look to make sure your site is in ship-shape form, and ensure that it is doing everything it can.
Tip: Avoid Black Hat Techniques Like the Plague
Who ever you are using for your SEO make sure they are not using any black hat techniques, like link farms, hidden keywords and content copying are all major no-goes. Why? Google just sees it as spam, and rightly so. You can be sure that we keep well on top of Google Algorithm changes, and have always tried to stay on their good side!
Don't Trust Random Emails Promising Better SEO, Google Gets Them Too
Yes that's right, Google has shown that they actually get spam email's promising to offer them better SEO! If you have received an email out the blue, trash it. Only ever use reputable companies for SEO, a simple Google Search will reveal many, or take the jump and give us a call to see what we can do.
